OXCCU Hires Ex BP Ventures MD Nacho Gimenez as New COO

OXFORD, England, 8 September 2025, 8 AM UK – OXCCU, a leading Oxford University spin-out developing technology to convert waste carbon into fuels and chemicals, has appointed Nacho Gimenez as Chief Operating Officer. Nacho is an accomplished leader in the energy sector with extensive experience in commercial strategy, investment, and technology innovation.

Nacho began his career in 2001 as a chemical engineer in oil refining, following early work in catalysis research. In 2005, he moved into energy trading, where he built strong financing expertise supported by his MBA and advanced studies in Corporate Finance and Sustainable Finance.

In 2017, Nacho joined BP Ventures, rising to Managing Director and leading investments that accelerated the decarbonisation of the energy sector. Most recently, he served as Head of Cleantech for a Ukrainian company expanding into Europe.

Nacho is joining OXCCU at a pivotal time as the company builds its second demonstration plant, OX2, and accelerates scale-up following its £18m Series A in 2023 and multiple government grants this year. With further fundraising underway, he will lead OXCCU’s operations to ensure the team delivers its milestones and gets its one-step process for converting CO₂ into long chain hydrocarbons to commercial scale.

OXCCU Co-Founder Dr Jane Jin will move to Chief Innovation and IP Officer, where she will be responsible for leading OXCCU’s innovation and IP strategy, building on the great work she has done since founding and utilising her deep expertise in these areas.
