OXFORD, England – Monday 30 March 2026, 8am BST – OXCCU, the Oxford University spin-out developing novel catalysts and processes to convert waste carbon into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), welcomed His Majesty The King and The Lord-Lieutenant of Oxford, Mrs Marjorie Glasgow, to its laboratories at Oxford University Science Park on Friday, where they met the team and learned more about the company’s work.

During the visit, His Majesty observed a live demonstration of synthetic e-fuel production directly from carbon dioxide and hydrogen. He spoke with the OXCCU team about the role that sustainable aviation fuel can play in reducing aviation emissions, supporting industrial resilience, and in making sustainable chemicals and plastics.

OXCCU has developed a direct, one-step process for converting waste carbon into jet fuel range hydrocarbons suitable for upgrading to SAF. The company launched its first demonstration plant, OX1, at London Oxford Airport in 2024, and is progressing its second demonstration plant, OX2, as it works towards having a commercial scale plant in operation by the end of this decade.

Andrew Symes, Co-Founder and CEO of OXCCU, said:

“It was a profound honour to welcome His Majesty to Begbroke and to share more about the work our team is doing at OXCCU. This visit was a deeply meaningful opportunity to reflect on the importance of supporting technologies that can move from the laboratory towards real industrial impact.”

OXCCU’s technology is designed to lower the cost and complexity of producing sustainable fuels. The company is headquartered in the UK, with operations at Oxford University Science Park, Begbroke, and London Oxford Airport.
